Hi.

Durham Sandy Brook Project

This couple reached out looking for guidance in refinishing current cabinetry, replacing doors and drawers with an updated door style, changing hardware and replacing their counter tops in their U-shaped kitchen. After taking their measurements and listening to what worked in their kitchen and what didn’t I did two things; 1. I quoted them for what they were asking for 2. I took a chance and redesigned their entire kitchen using two separate cabinet lines to stay within budget. When I did this I removed the peninsula, added an over-sized seated island and brought in one of my favorite companies to help with contracting and getting full quotes, Gordon Design/Build. To remove the peninsula and install an island, the red oak floors where the peninsula had lived would need to be sanded, refinished and blended into the existing floor to erase the years of wear and tear. The meeting when you show a client what they were asking you for and then throwing a completely different idea out of left field can be nerve racking; did I just waste a lot of time, did I listen to what they were saying or only hear their words? Long story short; they loved it. And the real work began. I partnered with Homecrest Cabinetry, Omega Cabinetry, Coastal Countertops out of Farmington NH and Seacoast Cabinet of Portsmouth NH for all things kitchen including sinks, faucets and hardware. Gordon Design Build made the cabinet install, flooring, wall work and all things construction run smoothly. Bellavance Tile, and Portico Fine Tile out of Rye NH made the kitchen, bath and mud room tile design and install simple! The mudroom floor blew me away, a typically conservative couple, they picked a concrete stamped tile to tie the blue of the island and bath vanity together. I hope you enjoy these Before, During and After photos!

Before, Fridge wall. The refrigerator only had one panel on the left side; an annoyance for the homeowners.
